This song was written by Ismaël Lô and Etienne Roda-Gil and first appeared as ‘La Femme Sans Haine’ on his 1994 album iso. In 1995 Roger Waters added English lyrics, and the track was re-recorded as a duet with Marianne for the Ismaël Lô compilation Jammu Africa, which featured five new tracks along with eight songs either offered in their original versions or remixed. ‘Without Blame’ was released to radio as a promo single in support of the release.

Around a decade later Marianne included ‘Without Blame’ in her tour setlist as part of a show based around covers, rarities and deepcuts from her back catalogue.
